Brewmaster ![]() Brewmasters are hard-drinking brawlers who combine dirty fighting, powerful punches, bardic songs, and a modest selection of magic. They favor strength and wisdom, begin with the staff, and gain 10 to 14 hit points per level. A Brewmaster who is drunk receives a five percent bonus to damage dealt. Like anyone else who is drunk, the Brewmaster also takes ten percent less damage. Keeping a good buzz can therefore be useful, but excessive drinking still carries the usual penalties. The Brewmaster's signature abilities are: Level 21 - RUN RIOT This song grants the Brewmaster and grouped allies a bonus of five to both hit roll and damage roll. It lasts for a limited time after being sung. Level 26 - FIRE BREATHER Syntax: firebreath [target] The Brewmaster spits burning alcohol at an opponent. A successful attack deals fire damage and blinds the victim. Fire breathing cannot be performed underwater, and it cannot blind someone who is already blind. Level 30 - PICK FIGHT Syntax: pickfight <target> The Brewmaster spills a drink on the target and provokes them into attacking. Success depends partly upon the wisdom and level of both participants. This ability cannot be used against sleeping or already fighting opponents. Level 35 - GOURD OF HEALTH Syntax: gourd [target] The Brewmaster offers a drink from a restorative gourd. It may be used on the Brewmaster or another person in the room, costs 25 mana, and restores a small amount of health. Certain curses, rage, and healing restrictions may prevent the drink from working. Level 40 - KEG TOSS Syntax: kegtoss [target] The Brewmaster hurls a keg at an opponent, consuming 10 movement points. A successful toss deals bash damage and may daze the victim and knock them to a resting position. If the toss misses, the Brewmaster falls down instead. Level 42 - SUCKER PUNCH Syntax: suckerpunch [target] This attack may only be attempted against an unwounded and alert opponent. It deals bash damage and may stun or knock the victim unconscious. Using it as the opening attack increases its damage. Once an opponent has been hurt, they are too wary to be sucker punched. Level 48 - HAYMAKER Syntax: haymaker [target] The Brewmaster closes their eyes and throws everything into one tremendous punch. The blow has a 25 percent chance to land for heavy bash damage. On a miss, the Brewmaster falls to the floor and is unable to make normal attacks for four combat rounds. In addition to these abilities, Brewmasters learn weapon skills, defensive skills, multiple attacks, enhanced damage, several songs, healing and travel magic, and a selection of offensive and protective spells. Their default training includes second attack, dodge, haymaker, keg toss, sucker punch, and fire breather. Despite the class name, Brewmasters do not currently receive the BREW skill used to create magical potion gourds.
ArmorBrewmasters can wear cloth, leather and studded leather armor, and can use shields.
